The challenge
Legacy on-premises infrastructure could not support trading volume growth and introduced unacceptable regulatory risk.
NexBridge Capital is a mid-market alternative investment manager with $4.2B AUM. Their on-premises infrastructure, built incrementally over 11 years, was reaching end-of-life — with three major outages in 18 months, rising maintenance costs, and a regulator's letter querying their disaster recovery capability. Maple & Chen designed and executed a full migration to AWS with zero trading-day downtime.
Our approach
Infrastructure audit & risk mapping
We catalogued 340 services across two data centres, mapped dependencies, and identified the 12 systems that could not tolerate any downtime during migration — the trading engine, risk management system, and client reporting infrastructure.
Architecture design
The target architecture used a multi-AZ deployment with active-active failover, AWS PrivateLink for regulatory data sovereignty, and a dedicated compliance logging layer for FCA reporting requirements. All design decisions were reviewed against NexBridge's internal risk framework.
Phased migration
Migration ran over 20 weeks in four phases, with non-critical workloads moved first. The trading engine was migrated over a single long weekend with a war-room team on standby. It completed 94 minutes ahead of schedule.
“The regulator had flagged our DR capability. Six months after Maple & Chen completed the migration, we passed a full resiliency audit without a single finding.”
